Christmas Island marks Year of the Horse with dedicated miniature sheet

Australia Post released a separate Christmas Island Lunar New Year miniature sheet on 6 January, marking the Year of the Horse with imagery tied to the customs of the festival. The official product information places the issue within a wider celebration that includes ancestor remembrance, visits between friends and relatives, gifts of money in red envelopes, lantern decorations, lion and dragon dances, fireworks and the concluding Lantern Festival.

The miniature sheet has a face value and retail price of AUD 8.60 and was scheduled to remain available until 31 December 2026. Although issued and distributed through Australia Post, Christmas Island material forms a distinct collecting area and should not be merged with the Australian mainland Lunar New Year set. The shared date and theme make careful cataloguing especially important.
