PostEurop warns EU customs changes could burden postal networks and small sellers

PostEurop published a position on 29 January concerning implementation after removal of the customs-duty de minimis treatment for e-commerce imports. It supported fairness and compliance goals while calling for operational simplicity.

The organisation warned that complex requirements could place disproportionate workloads on postal operators and smaller businesses. Customs changes can alter handling, charges, labels, data requirements and delivery times for international mail.

For postal historians, transition-period forms and markings may become evidence of regulatory change. Current senders should rely on official customs guidance rather than older collecting or marketplace advice.
