Dutch Country Auction 362 opens January market with United States and worldwide collections

Dutch Country Auctions held Sale 362 on 6–7 January, followed by a separate session of the Keith Stupell collection on 8 January. The main catalogue covered United States and foreign covers, naval and Civil War material, cacheted first-day covers and a substantial range of stamps and collections.

The auctioneer highlighted Washington–Franklins with certificates, material from Large Banknotes through Fourth Bureau issues, a specialised Ryukyu Islands holding, and worldwide groups including Canada, Japan and Turkey. Fifty-one lots consigned by the American Philatelic Society added country, new-issue and topical groupings.

Large mixed auctions can reveal current demand across both single rarities and accumulations, but headline results are rarely enough for comparison. Researchers should retain lot descriptions and images with hammer prices, and buyers should consider faults, duplication and the time required to organise collection lots before treating catalogue value as an estimate of resale value.
