Jersey Post tells the story of Saint Helier across an eight-stamp issue

Jersey Post released Tales of Saint Helier on 10 August 2026, an eight-stamp issue devoted to the island’s patron saint. British artist Becca Thorne created illustrations with the appearance of medieval tapestries, using the traditional narrative selected by Jersey Post’s philatelic team to follow Helier from his miraculous birth and journey to Jersey through his ministry, martyrdom and continuing place in island tradition.

The sequence ends with the annual procession and ceremony at the chapel beside Elizabeth Castle in Saint Helier. Jersey Post said the textures, patterns and colour palette of Thorne’s artwork were also carried into the supporting philatelic products, with script and serif typography chosen to reinforce the historical character of the issue.

The set comprises eight values: 82p, £1.25, £1.40, £1.95, £2.35, £3.10, £4 and £5. Specialist product information identifies bpost in Belgium as printer, using four-colour lithography, with individual stamps measuring 30 by 40 mm. The range includes the stamp set, miniature sheet, sheetlets, first-day covers, presentation packs, blocks and postcards.

The issue combines local religious history, folklore and living island tradition in a narrative format rather than treating Saint Helier as a single portrait subject. The final design’s connection to the modern annual observance also links the historical story directly to contemporary Jersey.
