Ukraine issues Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics postal block

Ukrposhta issued the postal block 'Spirit and Strength of Ukraine. Milano Cortina 2026' on 27 January in support of Ukraine's national team at the Winter Olympic Games. The block contains four U-denominated stamps devoted to figure skating, luge, freestyle skiing and biathlon, combining sporting imagery with a message of national resilience.

Designed by Volodymyr Taran, the 140 by 86 millimetre block was printed by PC Ukraine using offset lithography with foil embossing. The stated print run is 55,200 blocks, including 5,200 imperforate numbered examples reserved for selected subscription and philatelic purposes. Ukrposhta also listed 15,000 first-day covers, 15,000 cards for each design and 400 booklets. A first-day cancellation was scheduled for Kyiv.

The issue has strong appeal for Olympic, winter-sport, Ukraine and modern postal-history collections. The distinction between ordinary blocks, numbered imperforate blocks and booklets is essential for accurate cataloguing. The comparatively small booklet quantity and controlled distribution of imperforate examples may make provenance and official packaging particularly important.
