Royal Mail reveals Winnie-the-Pooh centenary stamp issue for 14 October

Royal Mail has made public that Winnie-the-Pooh will be the subject of a major British stamp issue scheduled for 14 October 2026, exactly one hundred years after the publication of A. A. Milne’s original Winnie-the-Pooh book. The development was reported on 30 August by the Commonwealth Stamps Opinion philatelic news site, which said that fuller technical details of the issue were still awaited.

The timing gives the issue a direct literary-anniversary connection rather than simply using Winnie-the-Pooh as a popular licensed character. Milne’s book was first published on 14 October 1926, and the planned release therefore falls on the precise centenary. Winnie-the-Pooh has appeared on postal issues from a number of countries over the years, but an issue from Royal Mail tied to the original publication anniversary is likely to attract interest beyond ordinary character-themed collecting.

At the time of the 30 August report, the full stamp programme had not yet been disclosed.
