Qatar centre sends five award-winning exhibits to Bandung Asian Stamp Exhibition

The Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Center announced through Qatar News Agency on 23 August 2026 that it will participate in the Asian Stamp Exhibition in Bandung, Indonesia, from 27 to 31 August. The exhibition is being held under the Federation of Inter-Asian Philately, with meetings of FIAP’s Executive Committee taking place alongside the competitive displays.

Qatar’s delegation is bringing five exhibits that have previously received medals at international exhibitions. The largest are an eight-frame treatment of Qatar’s first definitive stamps and an eight-frame study of Kuwait postal history. Five-frame exhibits cover the postal history of Oman and the postal history of Aden, while a further exhibit studies Second World War interned mail connected with the United States and Switzerland.

The group is notable for its concentration on traditional and postal-history material from the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula. Qatar’s first definitives are foundational material for the country’s own postal story, while the Kuwait, Oman and Aden exhibits address routes, administrations and usages that crossed changing political and postal systems. Internment mail adds a different wartime dimension, in which markings, routes, censorship and detention circumstances can be central evidence.

For exhibition collectors, the frame counts show that these are developed competitive studies rather than short promotional displays. Their appearance in Bandung offers an opportunity to compare mature exhibits across national boundaries and to see how material from Qatar and neighbouring postal areas is presented under FIAP exhibition practice. The accompanying executive meetings also make the event relevant to the administration of organized philately in Asia.
